TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A small fire broke out on the world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, on Tuesday.
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said: USA Today The fire was quickly extinguished and confined to the crew area. No injuries were reported. The ship was anchored in Costa Maya, Mexico at the time the fire began.
The spokesman said the ship briefly lost power but that backup power was quickly kicked in and the main power system was restored. The fire and power outage did not affect the ship’s route.
The PortMiami-based Icon of the Seas departed Saturday for a week-long Western Caribbean cruise. Cruise Mapper. We are scheduled to return to Miami on Saturday, June 29th.
Icon of the Seas first sailed in January and can accommodate up to 7,600 guests and 2,350 crew members.
