Amazon has appointed veteran executive Sameer Kumar as the new head of its consumer business in India, following a surprise leadership change in one of its key markets last month.
Kumar, who has been with the e-commerce giant for 25 years, will take over as country manager for India, the company said.
This appointment comes in addition to Kumar’s existing responsibilities overseeing Amazon’s consumer operations in the Middle East, South Africa and Turkey, the company said.
Amit Agrawal, Amazon’s vice president of emerging markets, announced the leadership transition in an email to employees. The move follows the abrupt exit of Manish Tiwari, Amazon’s former head of consumer business in India, last month.
This is a developing story, we will have more to come.
