Amazon today announced that it will host its Prime Day-like sales event, Prime Big Deals Day, on October 8 and 9. For the past two years, the e-commerce company has scheduled its fall event in October and is continuing that tradition this year.
In addition to the US, the event will be held in countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, UK, and Turkey. Amazon will hold its Big Deals Day in Japan later in October.
The company said Prime members will get a deal every five minutes during the event. It also has a holiday gift guide. Earlier this year, Amazon made its AI shopping assistant Rufus available to all users in the United States. It hopes more shoppers will use it.
“Exclusive savings events like Prime Big Deal Days combined with fast, unlimited free delivery on over 300 million products across 35+ categories year-round puts Prime in a league of its own and makes membership a better value than ever,” said Jamil Ghani, vice president of Prime Worldwide, in a statement.
According to analysts, Amazon Prime Day in July was a successful endeavor for the company, generating record sales of $14.2 billion.Adobe noted that 49.3% of sales originated on mobile, not other devices. The company said that mobile shopping this holiday season will drive 53% of online sales.
Amazon’s U.S. e-commerce sales are expected to reach $491.65 billion in 2024 — up 10.5% from last year, according to data from analytics firm Emarketer. Amazon remains the country’s largest e-commerce retailer, with a 40.4% market share, the data showed.
