Amtrak canceled more than a dozen trains along the Northeast Corridor today due to subzero temperatures, leaving commuters out in the cold.
The Northeast Corridor is just one of many areas where frigid air and winter storms will freeze train service, according to the agency’s website. Trains have been suspended as far away as Texas, Missouri and Seattle, but the New York area appears to be the most affected.
A complete list of cancellations can be found here here.
The agency said customers with tickets for canceled trains can change their rides to another date or time. Amtrak will also waive additional fees for customers who wish to change their reservations while service is reduced.
Planes, subways and buses around New York City are currently operating normally, and AirTrain service to JFK Airport, which was also suspended earlier in the day, has resumed service. The AirTrain at Newark Airport has resumed service after being suspended this morning, according to the Port Authority.
This is a developing story and is being updated.
