Analog Pocket is releasing another new version, but this time it’s not just in a new color scheme. An aluminum version is due to be released this month, and the company says the new handheld is “precision CNC machined entirely from aluminum.” It will be available in four colors: natural, noir, black, and indigo. Pre-order available It will begin on July 15th at 8AM PST/11AM EST, with shipments expected to begin on July 17th.
But this metal body doesn’t come cheap: The aluminum Pocket costs $499, a significant increase from the standard version’s $219. Analogue says that this new version will be “sold in very limited quantities and will never be sold again.”
Let’s take a look at all the aluminum parts of the device.
Pocket is the company’s first handheld device, and it has previously released high-quality recreations of consoles like the NES (also made from aluminum), SNES, and Sega Genesis. Next up is a Nintendo 64 with Analogue 3D, originally scheduled for release in 2024.
