Chrissy Swan has been praised on social media after posting a video showing her followers how to make the “perfect” pork cracklings ahead of Christmas.
The popular TV and radio presenter took to Instagram over the weekend to share a step-by-step guide to cooking Christmas essentials using an air fryer.
First, Chrissy asked her butcher for a spare pork crackling roll that still had some fat on the bottom, “because fat is flavor.”
She then put the pork, skin side up, in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours to make sure it was dry.

The pork was then cut into small pieces, rubbed with olive oil and butter, sprinkled with salt, and cooked on a tray in a fryer at 200°C for 25 minutes. Alternatively, you can cook them in the oven at 200°C for 30 minutes or until crispy.
Chrissy’s biggest advice was not to eat the cracklings right away, as they stay crispy even after they cool down.
“Resist the temptation to eat it straight out of the oven unless you’re within walking distance of a burn unit,” she joked.
Fans discover funny part of Chrissy’s video
Chrissy’s followers were surprised by her simple recipe, and many were surprised by the addition of butter.
One person wrote: “I never thought of adding butter…but I’ll definitely give it a try.”
“Butter? I didn’t know something like this existed,” another added, while a third added: “Who knew butter? I can’t wait to have a crack at this.”
“I never thought I’d cut it!! Game changer,” another user shared, followed by another user replying, “The air fryer is the perfect way to crackle pork!”
Meanwhile, one eagle-eyed fan noticed that the pork cracklings Chrissy bought at the beginning of the video were completely different from what she ended up cooking.
“Shall we talk about the fact that the part of the skin she put in the fridge is different than the part of the skin she took out?” When they said that, Chrissy responded, I ate the first one before I started filming😂”
Chrissy’s ‘best and easiest’ Christmas cake recipe
Chrissy’s video comes just weeks after she shared a recipe for chocolate ripple cake, which she described as “the greatest and easiest cake on the planet” using just three ingredients.
This dessert consists of 500ml of rich cream, a ‘lotful of scoops’ of vanilla paste and a bag of Arnott’s chocolate ripple biscuits.
“I am alarmed by how many people are not eating their fill of the most delicious and easiest cake on earth,” she wrote in the caption.
“I can’t believe we need this, but I can’t sleep until we all experience the magic of chocolate ripple cake!”
