Conservative MP Michael Fabricant has slammed Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer following a speech in Bristol today.
Addressing a crowd of young engineers, Mr Starmer vowed to lead the way to an “economy that rewards and respects people’s efforts”.
The Labor leader accused Chancellor Rishi Sunak of “squatting” on Number 10 and called on the Conservative leader to set a date for this year’s general election.
Mr Starmer was harshly critical of the past 13 years of Conservative rule, saying Britain was in a “huge mess”, “services are on their knees” and the economy was “not working, let alone when we’re at a standstill like now”. It doesn’t help people either.” .

Mr Starmer has made his intentions known for the general election, furious that Britain “demands change”.
“I am committed to a new purpose: to restore normalcy to the politics of this country; to tilt our economy toward the interests of working people; and to fairly reward their efforts.” added.
“Once again, I am committed to a new plan with new priorities: a five-point national mission to dispel the era of Tory division.”
Reacting to the speech, Conservative MP Michael Fabricant stressed that the UK economy is in better shape than Mr Starmer claimed today.
Mr Fabricant told GB News: “You hear him talking about all sorts of things that the government has done and it’s completely untrue.
“He said the economy collapsed under the Conservatives. In any case, our country is actually the fastest growing economy in the last 10 years and the fastest growing economy in the G7. .
“And at the moment it’s leveling off, but Germany is in a very deep recession and the EU is in a recession as well.”
GB News presenter Tom Harwood interjected to respond to Fabricant’s remarks, saying: “It’s true that over the past decade the UK has been the fastest growing of Europe’s major G7 economies. But the United States is growing faster.”

Mr Fabricant responded: “It hasn’t been for over 10 years. The scary thing about GB News is the way they cover Tom Harwood. He’s such a nerd!”
Mr Fabricant then shared further his thoughts on Keir Starmer’s first speech in 2024, adding: Prosecutor, I’ve been screaming in my house all morning.
“So the speech said absolutely nothing about substance. It was all about what he would do and what the evil Tories would do. There was also nothing about how to pay for it.”
