Google will hold its hardware launch event on August 13, two months earlier than usual, where it will unveil the Pixel 9 family. This will be the biggest Pixel series yet, with the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold offering many more high-end options than before.
Prices for all these devices in France have been leaked today, so let’s take a closer look. The Pixel 9 is said to be available in Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), Cosmo, and Mojito. Mojito is likely a greenish color, and Cosmo is speculated to be the pinkish hue that was leaked last week.
The standard model will cost €899 for 128GB storage and €999 for 256GB. The Pixel 9 Pro is roughly the same size as the Pixel 9 but has more cameras. It starts at €1,099 for 128GB storage, €1,199 for 256GB, and €1,329 if you want 512GB.
The top-end version will reportedly only be offered in Obsidian and Hazel, while the other two will also come in Porcelain and Pink (Cosmo, anyone?) options.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL will have the same internals as the Pixel 9 Pro, but will be larger in size. Size-wise, it is the true successor to the Pixel 8 Pro. Prices start at €1,199 for 128GB storage, €1,299 for 256GB, €1,429 for 512GB, and €1,689 for 1TB.
The 1TB version will only be available in Obsidian, the 128GB and 512GB models will be joined by Porcelain and Hazel, and only the 256GB variant will be offered in Pink. This strategy is not easy to understand even for us, but don’t worry.
Finally, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the successor to last year’s original Pixel Fold. It will be priced at €1,899 for 256GB storage and €2,029 for 512GB. It will only be available in Obsidian and Porcelain.
As with all pricing leaks in Euros, please note that there may be small differences across the EU due to different VAT levels, but if this leak is accurate, that’s what we’d expect as a baseline.
For reference, note that the Pixel 8 was originally launched at €100 cheaper for the 128GB model and €140 cheaper for the 256GB model. The Pixel 9 Pro is the same price as the Pixel 8 Pro for the base model, but the 256GB version is €30 more expensive and the 512GB model is €40 more expensive, making the comparison unfair in the first place. As we’ve already said, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is the true successor to the Pixel 8 Pro, and with that in mind, Google’s large non-foldable flagship coming in 2024 will be at least €100 more expensive than its predecessor.
While these prices don’t necessarily convert directly into other currencies, it’s reasonable to assume that prices that are unchanged from last year in the EU will remain the same in other markets for 2023, and that any increased prices will increase around the world.
