Disney has filed a construction permit for a new Wilderness Lodge Resort hotel at Walt Disney World.
The permit has been assigned to Adena Corporation, a longtime Disney partner that has worked on numerous major projects at Walt Disney World, including Epcot’s World Celebration, TRON Lightcycle Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Most notably, the validity period of permits has been extended by default from 12 months to December 25, 2026.
The purpose of the construction is still unclear, but the permit vaguely refers to it as “general construction.” Given the expiration date of the permit and the contractor involved, it seems likely that there will be a major renovation of the resort.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge’s last renovation took place in 2021. During this renovation, guest rooms were updated with a new modern natural theme while maintaining the resort’s Pacific Northwest aesthetic. Key updates include new hardwood floors, modern furniture, new blackout drapes, and redesigned headboards and accent walls with subtle Disney references like Bambi and Chip ‘n’ Dale. Bathrooms also received major upgrades, including dual showerheads and wood tile accents.
Disney has yet to announce any renovations or updates for Wilderness Lodge.
