Xbox has admitted that a Father’s Day post from a Brazilian social media account containing Final Fantasy 7 Remake was mistakenly posted and “included a title not available on Xbox.”
Microsoft’s Xbox Brazil account on X (formerly Twitter) posted a Father’s Day message yesterday featuring prominent gaming fathers from various Xbox titles, and another, Barrett from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. posted.
The post was then quickly deleted, leading fans to speculate that it was probably included to tease the game’s arrival on the Xbox console (thanks, gamer).
However, while that may happen at some point in the future, Xbox has confirmed to Eurogamer that the posting was in error.
“The image was posted in error and was removed because it contained a title not available on Xbox,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.
Still, the idea of a game coming to the Xbox console isn’t all that far-fetched. Few games in the series are currently playable on Xbox, but Final Fantasy 14 is set to come to Xbox consoles next year.
The announcement was made by Xbox head Phil Spencer and Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest in Las Vegas last month.
Kiryu said at the time that other games were coming to the platform as well, though it’s unclear which ones and when.
