Nintendo’s amiibo series may not be as busy as it once was, but new figures are still arriving on a regular basis.
With this in mind, there are reports that the packaging for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo series has been updated. This information comes from a member of his Famiboards forum who shared a photo of the new look.
The back of the box says “nothing” about the Switch or any other compatible platforms, which is why it’s garnered quite a bit of attention online.
Famiboard user Ajimi: “I work at a retail store in France, and today I received the “new” Smash amiibo (links so far, Luigi, DK). They’re the same as before, but the back of the box is different and more neutral (no photos mention any specific games or consoles).
As highlighted in amiibo alert In the social media post above, the new box on the left only describes how amiibo can be used with “compatible software,” while the old box actually lists all compatible platforms. and some information about the game was displayed.
There’s already been some speculation that Nintendo is developing an amiibo series “for the future.” There could be many other reasons behind the possible update, and it’s worth noting that Nintendo doesn’t sell or actually support his 3DS and Wii U. So you have to consider that as well.
