Syracuse — Google’s new cybersecurity certificate is now offered through the College of Professional Studies (CPS) at Syracuse University (SU).
Google’s career certificate prepares students for high-demand fields such as cybersecurity, data analysis, IT (information technology) support, project management, and UX design, and ‘no experience is required,’ says Syracuse says Mr.
This instruction provides students with job-ready skills as they complete their degree, while also connecting them to career resources and a network of more than 150 companies through the program’s Employer Consortium.
“Google’s certification program is designed to address the skills gap that many employers are experiencing,” said Arthur Thomas, executive director of professional acceleration and microcredentials at the Graduate School of Professional Studies. The cybersecurity certificate is the first of six Google Career certificates available through Syracuse University, according to the school.
Originally designed and taught by Google employees, Syracuse University added perspectives and input from both faculty and practitioners to “build an even more comprehensive foundation” in these areas. Each certification program includes more than 150 exercises and graded assessments, quizzes, or essay assignments to “ensure rigor and mastery.”
To help students prepare for jobs, the program offers resources such as resume templates, coaching through Career Circles and interview practice through Big Interview, Syracuse University said.

The school says students who complete the Google Career Certificates through Syracuse University will be able to take the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). This evaluation recognizes college credit based on prior learning and experience by identifying direct duplicate courses for the specific Syracuse credit program to which the student is applying.
Syracuse University says the People’s Liberation Army allows students to “personalize their learning pathway” to a credit degree or certificate program.
