Get an additional $1,049 ($200 off) with a $50 coupon at Amazon. The 15-inch MacBook Air (8/10, WIRED Recommended) is the first large-screen model in the Air lineup. It’s perfect for those who just want a bigger screen but don’t want to spend a fortune on a MacBook Pro. It has all the same features as the 13-inch MacBook Air, including a modern design, 1,080p webcam, and the latest M3 chip. The base model has an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, and in my tests, it easily handled 41 Chrome tabs, multiple apps, and three separate windows. However, I recommend upgrading to at least 16 GB of integrated memory so you can run dozens of apps and tabs at the same time. —Brenda Storrier

Acer’s Chromebook Plus 514 (8/10, WIRED Recommendation) is one of our favorites among the newer, more powerful Chromebooks of recent times. It has everything you need for everyday tasks, like browsing the web, editing documents, and chatting with friends. The keyboard and trackpad are unusually good for a Chromebook, and the touch display feels great. It won’t win any design awards, and it doesn’t have a backlit keyboard, but it’s a pretty good laptop for this price. It was on sale for $320 for a few months, but it was further reduced on Prime Day, making it the cheapest it’s ever been. If you want a bigger screen, the Acer Chromebook Plus 515 is the way to go. Sale price $319 ($80 off).
Acer laptop names are confusing. The model number here is A315-24PT-R0UX, which is also confusing, but at least you can use it to compare to other models. This is an upgraded version of our favorite 15-inch budget laptop. With an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB NVMe SSD, it offers the best value of any 15-inch laptop we’ve tested. It’s big, and the display isn’t the sharpest, but it won’t strain your eyes. Interestingly, the title here says 16GB RAM, and so does one of the spec listings, but another listing says 8GB RAM. It’s Amazon, so you never know what you’re getting. If you end up with 8GB, return it.
That’s the lowest price we’ve ever seen for a gaming laptop we love. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 (8/10, WIRED Review) is a truly powerful laptop, rivalling the power of many gaming desktops. Consume It’s almost as powerful as a gaming desktop, so you’ll want to play most of your heavier games near a wall outlet.
